James Steventon
"We work in such a fickle industry, so we have to make the absolute most out of every opportunity we receive, no matter how big or small. After all it's a chance to do the thing we love, ACT." - James Steventon
It is this outlook James brings to all his work with BAMALAM. Teaching from a young age, James has always had a flare for getting the most out of those he teaches. Whether that's acting or singing, he has taught across all levels of the educational system and also provides one-to-one classes across the WEST MIDLANDS & NORTH WEST.
After graduating from ALRA, James has been very busy auditioning and performing in various Theatre
productions, he has also appeared in BBC Soap Opera 'DOCTORS' in 2018. James is part of a writing duo that has had work featured in INK festival and on BBC Radio.
Before training James was involved with several Youth Theatre groups including 'STAGE COACH' with whom he performed at several high profile events including the national Stage Coach Anniversary at ARENA BIRMINGHAM (Formely the N.I.A.) and The 100th National Rotary Convention at the NEC BIRMINGHAM, working alongside renowned choregrapher Dougie Squires to bring the production to the stage. James also gained recognition for his work in the SHAKESPEARE SCHOOLS FESTIVAL, playing the title character in MACBETH at The Prince of Wales Theatre Cannock. OBERON, in A MID SUMMER NIGHTS DREAM at the Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury and Benvolio in ROMEO & JULIET at THE OLD REP Birmingham. From there he was part of the 'RICHARDS RAMPAGE' Shakesperian workshop at THE OLD VIC, London. Including a Q&A session with director SAM MENDES.
It is this wide breadth of experience James brings to each piece he produces with BAMALAM. His love for voice and radio has always been a driving force behind his acting choices and his big love for animated shows such as Family Guy & Rick and Morty. James' dream is to voice an animated character on either of the shows.
When James isn't Acting, Directing, Teaching or locked away in a dark room editing BAMALAM'S fantastic plays, you'll find him madly obsessing over LADY GAGA or STAR WARS with equal fervour. Or dressed as his alter ego JAZMIN SPARKS - who you can find at jazminsparks.co.uk
